Now; here is why you should consider a VF solution for your M3... To date, the off the shelf VF620 kit is the world record holder with a 10.6 second quarter mile time on 93 pump-gas with Fabspeed full exhaust as worlds fastest E9x platform BMW! No methanol, no other power adders. (This was achieved on our very own VAC project E92 M3 on DOT approved 10.5" tires)

Air/water cooling provides superior cooling ability and response over air/air without lengthy intercooler ducting while creating cooler intake temperatures for more powerful and reliable ignition. Final prototype kits were run on (2) different high profile VF test-mules, including the infamous fighter-jet teamed VF widebody car that saw thousands and thousands for miles of cross country driving, doing PR events and race track tests with no issues, even under abusive driving on the factory DCT transmission!

Maintaining the original BMW Smoothness and Reliability were Key Factors in the VF Design:
VF has harnessed the consistent and efficient delivery of the Vortech V-series superchargers to create the ultimate supercharger system for the ultimate driver's car.... The E9x M3 maintains an exceptional record for reliability despite being such a high performance car and this was an essential quality to maintain with the VF kits. In late 2008, VF purchased a new model M3 and chose to create a complete aftercooled supercharger kit. This is no small task; this kit has to work on a customers brand new $60K+ automobile with reliability and factory-like drivability. VF understood that there would be competitors in the field of the E9x M3 and knew that they would have to create the best kit on the market to gain an edge in the marketplace. This is by far the most reliable kit we have seen in use on the E9x M3.

Exhaustive Effort was Placed on Precise Development, Control and Quality:
After much success on the E46 M3, with VF completely retooling the system to be one of the most capable on the market- the E9x become the singular focus of VF engineering's goal: To do this is no small task, everything would have to be scrutinized and tested, and no less than three development cars were undergoing abusive trails before anyone in the public knew about the VF system.

A production aluminum intake manifold with integrated air-to-water heat exchanger (charge cooler) was custom developed  for greatest performance, elegant simplicity, and clean looks under the hood.
Compared to similar air/air systems, air-to-water intercoolers are a more expensive option. Often used in European Rally cars, air/water cooling is the ultimate in aftercooler technology for on and off the race track. Nothing less would do for such a car and VF includes this as part of their kit at no additional cost to you. 

The point? Your M3 continues to drive and feel like an "M Car"  due to excellent throttle response and a cool intake charge. Drivability is smooth and calm when desired, and much more power is on tap with exceptional reliability- all this is crucial to keep the M3's excellent qualities intact. 

Unique Construction and Software is The Key
VF has what is likely the cleanest, most direct pipe routing for charged air for any system avalible for the E9x M3. This may make the kit look more simple, but it is one of the best reasons to chose the VF system over others. VF's Vortech Blower, intercooler, plumbing and all machined components are made in house or by a trusted partner of VF Engineering. the track record of the Vortech unit is undisputed, being used on everything from records setting American drag-cars to Lamborghini V12s with success. No other company can stake the claims that the Vortech unit delivers.

Vortech is often confused with low-technology development because of its popularity with domestic muscle cars. Lets put that one to rest: Vortech is a performance-automobile subsidiary of Vortron; a mult-thousand unit a year supplier to every industry including manufacturing, Aerospace, heavy duty and government agencies. They are without a doubt backed by the most prolific and successful compressor manufacture in the world.

ECU tuning has been brought in-house and VF engineers spent months software testing their E9x M3s for issues faced by other supercharger systems. 

Testing of software included extensive road and dyno test cycles, cross country driving at high speeds with acceleration and deceleration tests for drivability, smoothness and ECU fuel management. Celebrity "beat down" sessions with drivers who were told "drive it like you stole it" went on for weeks. Track testing for laps and of course VACs test kit was put through extremely hard road race days, drag racing, and even... picking the kids up from school.

All test cars were put through long term full throttle testing in conditions varying from wet & cold climates to hot dry Arizona desert temperature for safe-optimal air fuel ratios and knock activity monitoring. Competently rewritten ECU software has allowed VF to fully explore the potential of the BMW ECU and unlock the potential of a Supercharged S65 engine. Wonderful street manners with super-car slaying power; it doesn't get any better!

Some facts about the VF supercharger system for the E9x M3:

  1. All Software was tested under a huge range of conditions, and developed in house by a VF team committed to nothing but BMW applications.
  2. The Vortech supercharger is a much larger unit and therefore has a superior flow rate over the competitions systems.
  3. The Vortech unit [centrifugal] runs at approximately half the impeller speed when compared to a typical planetary unit at like-for-like boost levels.
  4. The Vortech unit is capable of creating up to 20psi [application dependent] and therefore has greater potential for higher power levels down the road.
  5. The self-contained Vortech unit does not need its own separate oil cooling system with reservoir and extra radiator.
  6. Vortech units have been on the market for over 15 years in the US; many many times longer than the competition and have a foundation in the billion-dollar commercial compressor technology industry.
  7. VF's kit needs only 91 octane to make the rated power figures.

The VF supercharger system remains fully OBD2 compliant and is supported by a 1 year unlimited mileage warranty (on the kit only). Installation can be performed by most competent technicians in a true 12-16 hours and is non-intrusive, allowing it to be fully reversible. Drag racing and aggressive back to back peak rpm shifting with the higher stage levels will likely require a clutch upgrade on 6 speed cars. 100 octane fuel recommended when used on the race track, but is not necessary. As a matter of fact, we ran 10second 1/4 times at the drag strip and turned a ton of hot laps at NJMP on 93 octane pump gas with zero issues.

VF540 Supercharger System
Supercharger system (Upgradeable to VF620 with air/water intercooler).   Everything needed is included, as well as a custom ECU flash for your factory computer. Hugely powerful and reliable with serious performance gains over stock.

VF650 Supercharger System
Intercooled supercharger system (Air-to-Water aftercooler).  Everything needed is included, as well as a custom ECU flash for your factory computer. Hugely powerful and reliable with performance that makes your M3 an exotic killer!!!
It is our opinion that this kit could run a 10.5 or better with little effort when used with a DCT, diff, exhaust and a good launch.

Tips from VAC:
A pre-cat wideband air/fuel ratio monitoring gauge is always recommended. 
Our car has a high flow exhaust that sounds great and allows the car to make even better power!

VF's Tech Notes:
Not all vehicles respond identically to engine modifications which is why it is important to consider the "delta", or relative power increase, measured on the same dyno before and after modification. Power gains shown by VF have been found to be accurate on test vehicles on 91 octane at sea level. VF does not guarantee that all engines will make the same power numbers. The custom software adapts just as the OEM software and a slight increase in performance may be expected from the use of higher quality fuels such as 93 octane. Power gains may vary according to factors such as altitude or vehicle condition. VF installs its systems in house as means of continuous product monitoring. All vehicles are dyno'd pre-install and the stock E46 M3 typically delivers 265-275whp on 91 octane. VF-Engineering is not responsible for pre-existing or consequential wear and tear of your vehicle. It is an assumed owner responsibility to ensure your car is adequately upgraded to support power enhancements. VF's testing of EGT and wide band O2 was performed from sensors installed in the OEM header. Technicians logged individual cylinder exhaust gas temperatures as well as Air/Fuel ratio in each exhaust bank (pre-catalytic converter).
